Damani Goodson has amassed an impressive portfolio in the entertainment and sports industries in many capacities since 1990. He started his journey at Fountain Baptist Church in Summit, NJ in their media ministry. After two years at Fountain, he went to Winston-Salem State University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from Five Town College on Long Island, NYC, where he earned his degree in music technology and business management in 1996. An accomplished boy scout, Damani also received leadership training as a Cadet Platoon Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps’ Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit based at St. Pius X High School in Piscataway, NJ under the leadership of Capt. Otis Whitehead & Capt. Ronald Stewart(RIP).
In the summer of 2011, he created Modern Class Design, LLC with former San Francisco 49ers and current Washington Redskins tight end Vernon Davis and music industry executive Antone Barnes. Modern Class Design was a full-service fine-arts and interior design company catering to the needs of professional athletes. During this time, Mr. Goodson was instrumental in developing the company’s overall image, logo and business planning which included a reality show pilot based, organizing relocation services for athletes and helping develop a furniture line for big and tall men. One of the signature programs of the company was the urban renewal project to help redevelop an apartment complex in Richmond, CA. The company received press placement in the New York Times, HGTV, ESPN and Black Enterprise as well as a host of other national and regional publications. In October of 2012, the business partnership was amicably dissolved among its partners and Mr. Goodson transitioned into Sports Marketing & Athlete Branding.
In January of 2013, along with business partner Antone Barnes, he developed, named and co-founded The Brand Architects, LLC, a brand management firm that works with professional athletes and entertainers. Damani has personally worked with many NFL players by helping them pursue their interests off-the-field. Damani has partnered with established and emerging brands on content marketing strategies and community development, including market research, ideation, campaign development & implmentation and social media management. He has also fostered partnerships with corporate brands by arranging player appearances, autograph signings, meet and greets and endorsement deals with the following corporate sponsors: Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Chick-Fil-A, Body Armor, Safeway, and Modell’s Sporting Goods, to name a few. Additionally, he works with clients to develop and execute charitable endeavors to serve their communities with American Diabetes AssociationAmerican Association of Cancer Research and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Prior to co-founding The Brand Architects, LLC, Damani held several client service positions in corporate America and it’s where he developed the needed skill set to work with professional athletes at such companies as The Prudential, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, New Jersey Turnpike Authority and PSE&G. Currently, He is a Marketing & Business Consultant specializing in digital marketing, personal branding, business and social media management for corporate clients including professional athletes and entertainers.
He is also an Alumnus of Offense-Defense Football Camp, having been instructed by former NFL players including: 2× Super Bowl champion & Super Bowl MVP Phil Simms, Super Bowl champion & Heisman Trophy winner Tony Dorsett, Super Bowl champion Jay Schroeder, Super Bowl champion Ed “Too Tall” Jones, Super Bowl champion Kevin Butler, 3× Pro Bowl & 3× All-Pro Al Toon and 5× Pro Bowl & 3× All-Pro Cornelius Bennett as well as top college and high school coaches. Damani has a high sports IQ not only in Football but also Baseball and Basketball, where he started on several varsity teams during his high school career. Additionally, Damani is an accomplished skier with Jersey Ski & Sports, Inc. and during that time he was a member of the National Brotherhood of Skiers for over eight years. He raced competitively until injuries sidelined his efforts.
Additionally, Mr. Goodson mentors youth and young adults to enhance their lives and helps them be the best in their local communities!
